This is Mars. Shot with my longest lens (a 400mm) with a 1.4x teleconverter and the 1.6x crop factor of my Nikon D7000, giving it an effective focal length of almost 900mm. And it's still just a bright dot in the frame. It actually looked way better to my naked eye - a nice bright red shining dot in the sky. I think I'll have to wait till it gets a bit closer before I can photograph the Martians punting their boats along those canals.

I spent a few days in Shanghai in 2010. With no particular aim, I wandered the streets looking for photographs which I always enjoy doing and regard as a proper luxury these days.
